This can be used for purpose of an LO reference source for phase noise testing  systems like the 505x series  modules. Since it will likely have 3-6 db lower phase noise than what you are testing .this is what we use it for currently. But we are upgrading to e8257d with unx which is a bit better at 1 khz offsets. We also have one of those for sale as well.

For spectral purity and the price for 6 GHz range and a built in function generator you can't go wrong!

This is the only game in town other than an mxg b model with low phase noise option which runs 15k!

This model has the same pn performance as the mxg a models but with a far more stable timebase and this one only takes a few min to warmup. The mxg line all take an hr or so !

The display has a bluer light to it compared to the nasty yellow looking ones . Its not very photogenic but looks great in person!

This is the coveted e4428/38c line not to be confused with the cheaper esg line . The parts and programming are all the same between these more expensive models where its standard on all of them within the model line to have ytos for superior phase noise performance and overall spectral purity!

This also has option unb higher power option which is basically just a mechanical attenuator.

This one comes calibrated with NIST cert and meets all spec including, flatness, power and frequency accuracy, linearity, harmonics, spurious, phase noise, attenuator steps, dynamic range, 10 mhz reference ins and outputs, etc… i believe we have the software to provide a comprehensive data report as well for an additional 500$.
